Outdoor Leadership
At Mountain Springs Preparatory Academy, we
believe strongly that the greatest classroom of all is
out-of-doors. Some of the reasons include: nature plays no
favorites; natural laws are absolute and provide vivid examples of
cause and effect; the lack of other distractions helps students
pay closer attention; and perhaps most importantly, the greatest
growth occurs when students are out of their comfort zone.
Whatever the reason, many of our students learn more about
themselves and what is possible for them climbing,
hiking, or rafting than in any other venue.
Because the student profile at Mountain Springs is a student who
is or has struggled in the past and who often battles low
self-esteem, these Outdoor Leadership Excursions provide
invaluable opportunities to challenge their beliefs, nurture
leadership qualities, and learn once again that “I can do it!”
